Franken: Jellies

SH Double Duty Base Coat and 3 thin layers of franken jellies
Apparently I've developed a thing for jelly polish. Reason being, they are awesome for "sandwiching" glitters. To my surprise, I do not have many jellies in my collection. The best solution was to create my own. In the above picture are my swatches of the franken jellies before adding coats of glitter.

The above picture is midway through layering.

The formula for this "sandwich"
Sally Hansen Double Duty Base coat
3 thin layers of franken jelly
1 layer of NYC Starry Silver Glitter
1 layer of jelly
repeat once
apply glitter just to tips (like a gradient effect)
thick coat of jelly
Out the Door - Northern Lights Hologram top coat "silver" (not shaken)

Finger Paints Special Effects: Asylum and Twisted

Yes, polish lovers I found the newly released (it is still new, right?) Finger Paints Special Effects collection. And not only did I find it, I got the colors I wanted. The first Sally's I went to said they had Twisted on the shelves but once I got there they didn't. Luckily, Loro was willing to drive to the other Sally's (which was quite a distance - he said we've drove far for his video games, why not for my nail polish) and I got Asylum and Twisted. I did not want Flecked and Motley (because I want to get Zoya Opal and Maisie) nor did I want Flashy (because I have Hidden Treasure and plus I want Zoya Chloe). Now once I happily showed Loro what I got, of course he said "you got two of the same polish?" Uhh, no babe they are completely different, I assure you that.

Current Nails: French Mani

If you follow my personal blog, I uploaded one of these pics for project365. I had another appointment that needed "professional" nails so I went with a classic French Mani. I intended for this to be a "pink and white" for Pink Wednesday but my 10 professional Perfectly Pink wasn't pink enough (After I painted my nails, I added more drops of pink to get what I call "perfectly pink", so that's why it's a deeper pink in the bottle than on my nails). I achieved this mani with tape otherwise the line wouldn't be as straight. I haven't had a "classic" french mani on my nails since I used to get acrylics back in 2005.

Happy New Years!! (NYE Mani)

Happy New Years everyone!! I gave great thought into what I wanted my NYE nails to look like. Loro suggested writing the numbers out so I went with that. I used CG Blue Years Eve, Tinsel Town, Icicle, Champagne Bubbles and Twinkle Lights (on both hands). As usual I like how the left hand turned out better. I'll be keeping this mani on for a few days.

Swatch/Review
Brand: China Glaze
Collection: Let it Snow
Color Name: Blue Year's Eve
Finish:  Shimmer
Number of Coats: 3

Blue Year's Eve is such a pretty blue! It reminds me of my "dream" paint job on a car. In some lights, BYE has a slight sheen of purple. I got it opaque in 3 coats. Although not a problem for me, in some lights (or with flash) there is still a VNL.

My swatch details format was inspired by WackyLaki I really liked how "together" it looked on her blog so I will be using the same format on my blog. I hope that is alright.

Halloween Mani 2011

I really don't know why I waited the whole month of October to finally do a Halloween inspired Mani. That left me not being able to decide what I wanted to do - so why not put them all together. Right?

The index finger is a purple and orange gradient topped with a black crackle. I really like how it looks and wish I would have did this one earlier. I know I will definitely be doing this next year. My frankie was my first attempt at it, I was so worried it was going to be a jacked up Frankie but it turned out pretty good. My thumb (not shown) also had a candy corn.

All nails but Frankie was topped with one coat of China Glaze Top Coat.
I think was the most polish I ever used in one mani.

What's on your nails for Halloween?
