Hallowe'en 2013: Free for All

Well it's the last day of this nail art challenge. While I don't actually care about the actual day, I like the colors and treats and that's what made this challenge fun. I used Maybelline Dotty which is perfect for this and the ghost ties everything together.

And here's my "fancy" arm candy...lol

Twinsie Tuesday: Space inspired

I was uber excited about today's theme of space inspired nails but then I forgot to post it. My apologies. I honestly don't  know why I don't do these type of manis more often.

I used Sinful Colors Cold Leather and then sponged on Revlon Grape, Sinful Colors Opening night and a white. My last step was to top it with Claire's night sky.

Hallowe'en 2013: Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat! Smell my feet, give me something good to eat... I'll always choose a treat. For this prompt, I decided to focus on some various treats. On my middle finger is supposed to be a candy apple, my ring is assorted candies with "festive" wrappers and the pinky was supposed to be a candy corn gradient but my nails were to short.

What do you choose, trick or treat? What's your favorite treat?

Hallowe'en 2013: Gothic nails

This was another prompt that I didn't know what to do. I asked on twitter what to do for gothic nails and my friend Lia responded with "black and red lace". I pulled out my stamping plates and looked for what most resembled lace. My red is Spoiled I tripped on the Carpet and I stamped with Revlon Black Star.

Busy Girls Nails: Oxblood

This week's prompt for the Busy Girls nails is oxblood. I seriously thought that I would be over the color oxblood but nope I'm still liking it a lot. Only my favorite oxblood polish in my stash got left behind in storage. Haze of Love wasn't as dark and vampy as I wanted it to be so I was on the search for new addition. I found Maybelline On the Rum at Kmart in the clearance bin and scooped it up. It's my first in the express finish line and it does dry fast. Does this polish fit in the oxblood family?
Brand: Maybelline
Collection: Express Finish
name/number: On the Rum/672
Finish: Creme
number of coats: 2
top coat: no

Hallowe'en 2013: Bump in the night

I honestly couldn't think of what I wanted to do for today's prompt, bump in the night. Then of course my mind wandered to Disney and then it hit me...Monsters Inc. So I tried to portray Mike Wazowski in a bedroom in the middle of the night.

I did a blue and purple gradient using Revlon Grape and Midnight Affair. Then the "shadowy" figures were done with Spoiled Visually Slimming. Mike was done with WnW nerd alert Screech.

Hallowe'en 2013: Pumpkins

Today's prompt is pumpkins or jack-o-laterns. I went with a pumpkin French tip. Pretty simple and not too flashy (or scary).

Twinsie Tuesday: Weather Inspired

Hey everyone, welcome to another Twinsie Tuesday. This week we're doing weather inspired manicures. Here in Florida, the weather is pretty much hot and sunny or grey and humid. Sometimes, I miss the actual change in the weather that I used to see in Wisconsin.

Today I drew inspiration from a specific polish that related to weather I'm sure everyone has seen at one point, a thunderstorm. The polish I used was e.l.f. Thunderstorm from the Disney Villians 2013 collection that Amanda hunted down for me. It's a charcoal gray creme that dries semi-matte. Then I used China Glaze Latticed Lilac for my lighting bolts and a random blue for the raindrops.

Hallowe'en 2013: Scary Movies

I've decided to join in on another nail art challenge. Not because I love Halloween but because I really enjoy doing nail art and branching out from what I would normally try. This nail art challenge started on Saturday but I forgot to post it here on my blog. Oops. Here's the prompts for this challenge.

I don't really remember watching scary movies a lot when I was younger and if I did, I'd watch them squeezed up against my mom. The only way I'll watch a scary movie now is with my boyfriend and something to cover my face. I'm a chicken. With that said, there's not much I wanted to actually attempt on my nails without getting too scared. So I drew inspiration from Katherine at Rambles of a Polish addict and did ightmare on Elm Street.

I used Spoiled I tripped on the Carpet (red), Sinful Colors Calypso (darkest green I have here) and China Glaze Icicle (silver).

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week (pink gradient)

Turns out I had one too many pink manis prepared so I had to pick which I wanted to post. I decided on this sparkly pink gradient.

Busy Girls Nails (Fall Edition)

Over on Instagram, I've been participating in the Busy Girl Nails challenge with @BeautybyArielle, @Drinkcitra@Marijonails@Mirandasmakeup  @Fiercemakeupandnails as well as other participants. Since I saw a few of the ladies posting their manicures on their blogs, I've decided to do so as well. Here are my first two manicures.

Up first is antique gold. I had a bit of trouble deciding which gold polish I owned worked best for this. I decided on WnW Deadly Dose.

Brand: Wet n Wild
Collection: Pick your Poison 2012
Name: Deadly Dose
Coats: 2
Finish: metallic

Up next is Nubar Brilliant for pink. A gorgeous holo pink.

Brand: Nubar
Collection: Prism
Name: Brilliant
Coats: 1 coat over WnW Broken Hearted
Finish: Holo

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week (Rimmel Electric Pink)

Today we'll start off with the fact of the day:
Now on to the polish, this is Rimmel Electric Pink. This is the only Rimmel I own and I've never tested if it actually lasts 10 days but I wouldn't mind scooping up a few more Rimmel polishes given the chance. This is two coats, topped with Finger Paints Twisted. This polish is probably best for jelly sandwiches particularly during the summer months (right Amanda?)

Brand: Rimmel
Collection: Lasting Finish Pro
Color Name/Number: Electric Pink/320
Finish: shimmer (shown with flakies)
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: no

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week (Sally Hansen Pink Satin)

This is a pink that looks better in the bottle than on the nails but at least the brushstrokes weren't too bad with this chrome metallic. This is Sally Hansen Pink Satin. There were no problems with application and I didn't do any tricks to minimize brushstrokes. I want to say I only used 1 coat but I don't remember. I've read that this is a dupe for butter London Fairy Lights, so that's cool.

Today's fact of the day...

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week (Sinful Colors Bianca)

Today I am revisiting a pink I haven't used (shown) in a while. The first time I showed it here, was shortly after I decided to focus my blog on nail polish in 2011. Only this time I'm using it on its own despite the nail line. Sinful Colors Bianca is a creamy cool tone pink jelly polish, shown here is two coats without a top coat. I've forgot all about this polish but I think I should use it in a jelly sandwich very soon.

Brand: Sinful Colors
Color name: Bianca
Line: Core collection (?)
number of coats: 2

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week (Twinsie Tuesday)

Hey everyone! This Tuesday, I'm combining Twinise Tuesday with Pink Week. The Twinsie theme is "most hated trend". I try to try each trend at least once (except duck nails or any other weird shaped nail, no way am I trying that) and give each of them their fair chance. So it's a little hard to settle on a hated trend. While trying to incorporate pink into my hated trend, I narrowed it down to a half moon. Then took it a step forward and made it a crackle half moon. Although crackle can be a nice touch at times. My pink is Sinful Colors Cabana and my crackle is OPI Superbass.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

October 15 is a day to remember babies who were loss too soon either from pregnancy loss or infant death. Some observe the day by lighting candles at 7pm and releasing balloons, butterflies or doves.

A friend of mine invited me to light a candle and release a pink balloon for her little one. Since I'll be working at 7pm, I chose to observe and show my support by painting my nails pink and blue.

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week (Revlon Posh Pink)

Day 2 of Pink Week! Here's the second fact...that's a scary number. Early detection is key. Please do your self exams.

For today's pink polish, I decided to revisit some pinks I haven't used in awhile. This is Revlon Posh Pink. This is a medium toned Barbie pink with a touch of shimmer that gives it a "pearly" look. It's not one of my favorite pinks which is why I topped it with Sally Hansen Strobe Light.

While using Strobe Light I remembered, I've been wanting to compare a few of my pink glitters. Shown below is one coat of each over black: OPI Teenage Dream, Sally Hansen Strobe Light and Sinful Colors Show Stopping. What they all have in common is the hexagonal irrdescent glitters and smaller micro glitters. Teenage Dream is on the thick side, more dense and could be worn on its own with VNL. Strobe Light appears to have some micro square glitters. Show Stopping is the most sparse of the three, this would be best for "melting" a gradient together.

Breast Cancer Awareness - Pink Week! (e.l.f. Bubble gum Pink)

As most people know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Pink is almost everywhere you look in October. And this week, to raise awareness some members of the nail community will be posting pink manicures for a week. We'll also be sharing 7 facts about breast cancer.

My first pink polish of the week is e.l.f Bubble Gum Pink, it's a creme polish that dries slightly matte. I don't remember it being difficult to work with and dry time was nothing to complain about.

Twinsie Tuesday - Cutesy and Girly

Hello everyone, I'm sure you know what today is and what it means. Today's theme is cutesy and girly and I can't think of anything more cutesy than Hello Kitty. For the rest of my nails I used, Sinful Colors Cotton Candy and Sweet Tooth as well as Revlon Girly because why not?

KKCenterHK nail transfers

*press sample*

I got contacted by KKcenterHK to try out a product provided by KKcenterHK. I chose to try out N.NAIL Fantasy Rainbow Color Circle Patten Nail Foil Transfer (NNail E-25)

There's a helpful video on the product page to show you how to work with the nail foil. My first time, I had some trouble getting all the foil to transfer but once I got the hang of it, I had no problems. It does look wrinkled in some spots but I still like it. This particular foil is great for a full mani like I wore here or as an accent nail.

The glue is not included but you can buy a set which includes nail foil and glue.

If you would like to order from KKcenterHK, they provided a 10% discount code for my readers, just use CHICHI when you check out. The code expires Jan. 31, 2014.
