Special Edition Twinsie Tuesday - One Year Anniversary

Hello lovely polishettes! This week we have a special Twinsie post to share because it's the one year anniversary of Twinsie Tuesday. For this post, everyone is reswatching their very first Twinsie Tuesday post. I remember being so excited to join this amazing group of bloggers and I hope a year from now we all are still connected.

My first post was a swatch of a franken. In the past year, I haven't made too many frankens but luckily I still have the one from my first post. I may or may not have added more glitter to this within the past year but I can't be too sure. I can say one thing though, my pictures look much better than they did last year.

Be sure to check out the other Twinsies' special anniversary posts!

Sinful Colors Truth or Dare with Revlon Heavenly

Hello polishettes! Today I have two new polish to share that my boyfriend got for me earlier this month. The first one is Sinful Colors Truth or Dare, which is a lovely berry creme. Truth or Dare is apart of the Kiss & Tell collection which has 8 other polishes in the display. I believe only 2 of the 8 are new; the others are part of the core collection or re-promotes. Truth or Dare is opaque in just one coat.
Brand: Sinful Colors
Collection: Kiss & Tell
Color Name/Number: Truth or Dare
Finish: Creme
Number of Coats: 1
Top Coat: no
Next up is a glitter that almost everyone wants their hands on, Revlon Heavenly. Heavenly is a dupe for Deborah Lippmann Stairway to Heaven. If you want to see a comparison of that, check out Maribeth's post. Heavenly has a mix of square and hexagon iridescent glitters that are quite lovely to stare at throughout the day.
Brand: Revlon
Collection: Bubble Gum Days/Urban Nights
Color Name/Number: Heavenly
Finish: glitter
Number of Coats: 1-2 (I don't remember.)
Top Coat: no

My accent is Heavenly over Truth or Dare.

Twinsie Tuesday - Vintage Mani

This week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is a vintage mani. I've done this style once before and wasn't too pleased with it. Forties Fashions has a good tutorial of how to do the vintage manicure. Once again, I opted to skip shaping my nails into the almond shape.
I only did two nails, it just looks so odd to me. On the other two nails, I did half moons. I used OPI So Many Clowns, So Little Time and Sally Hansen Coral Reef.

Fall to Winter Nail Art

This post is a tad late, I originally intended to have this posted when Winter officially started in December sort of to say good-bye Fall, hello Winter - but better late than never right? I got the idea to do this nail art as I was driving home from work one day in November admiring the bare trees and leaves blowing in the wind.

Since there are several grey days in the Fall, I started with a base of OPI My Pointe Exactly which is a sheer grey. I believe I only used two light coats just for a touch of grey.
Then I painted on some bare trees with leaves blowing in the wind. I did not write down the polishes I used for the nail art but I know I used Kleancolor Brown for the trees.
For my Winter trees, I started with a base of Dare to Wear ChiChi. I also used 2 coats of this polish.
Then I used Kleancolor Brown again and a white polish to be snow on the trees. This is what most of the trees look like in my state right now.

Sunday Stamping - Tape and Stamp

This week's Sunday Stamping challenge is tape and stamp, a double challenge for me. I used 2 coats of Sally Hansen Vigorous Violet. Once that was dry, I taped off one finger with scotch tape and stamped with Mash plate 50 and China Glaze Champagne Bubbles, but that didn't show up so I went over it with Wet n Wild Steel the Spotlight

Brand: Sally Hansen
Line: Insta-Dry
Color Name/Number:Vigorous Violet
Finish: Shimmer
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: no

Sinful Colors Grecian Sun

Hello all, I've been unsure of what to post lately as I haven't been buying much nail polish from any new collections. Instead of only posting once or twice a week for challenges or themed posts, I'm going to go through my untrieds and make sure all polishes in my collection have been swatched and photographed. Of my 30 untrieds, here is one from the 2012 Spring Sinful Colors Cast Away collection.

This is 2 coats of Grecian Sun, a gorgeous cornflower blue creme that is so easy to apply. It's the perfect blue for Spring and Summer, I wonder if it will be re-released this year.

Brand: Sinful Colors
Collection: Cast Away
Color Name/Number: Grecian Sun
Finish: Creme
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: no

Twinsie Tuesday - Cervical Awareness Month

Hello lovelies, this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme is Cervical Awareness Month and the colors for that are teal and white.

As the month of January brings cervical cancer into focus, it’s time to increase public understanding of the disease, including its prevalence, approaches to screening and prevention, treatment options, and resources that offer updated cervical cancer information throughout the year.
Each year in the United States, more than 11,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and approximately 4,000 die of the disease. While certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV) are linked to cervical cancer, vaccines such as Gardasil® and Cervarix™ are designed to prevent infection with high-risk types of HPV and have the potential to greatly reduce the occurrence of cervical cancer.
For more information on cervical cancer, its treatment, and support, please visit Cancer Connect by clicking here.
I used four coats of Revlon Powder Puff on my index and ring fingers. Then on my middle and pinky fingers I used three coats of Sally Hansen Pixel Pretty. Once Powder Puff was dry, I used one coat of Wet n Wild Cost is no Issue topped with Essie Marshmallow on my ring finger. On my index finger, I used a dotting tool and Zoya Zuza. The dots on my pinky finger is Sally Hansen White On.

Here's a look at Pixel Pretty by itself. The formula is thin but not too runny. It's very vibrant teal (or turquoise) color but not as opaque as I would like. I'd probably layer this over a similar color next time around.

Be sure to check out the other teal and white manicures from the Twinsies:

Sally Hansen Celb City with China Glaze Pizzaz

Here's a fun mani that I wore back in December. Sally Hansen Celeb City is a stunning silver foil that is opaque in two coats. I have a mini that my boyfriend got in a set for me but I think eventually I will be getting a full sized. Then my accent is China Glaze Pizazz. I wanted Pizazz since I missed out on OPI Rainbow Connection last year.

Sunday Stamping - With an Accent Nail

Here's my second Sunday Stamping post, this week's challenge is With an Accent Nail. I used a Mash plate with Color Club Artsy Craft. My accent nail is China Glaze Ray-diant. I'm not sure if it's my stamper, the polish or user error but I had some difficulty getting the whole image on my nail.

Here's a look at my base color, I wore 1 coat of Sally Hansen White On under 2 coats of SH Lite. This is an amazing yellow, it's very pigmented and applies nicely.

Twinsie Tuesday - Red Mani

Well this week's theme is nothing too challenging but was still a challenge in itself, a red mani is what we're required to do this week. I was a little stumped because I wanted to do something special but couldn't think of anything. I used my favorite red polish OPI The Color of Minnie to polish my nails. Then dripped WnW I Red a Good Book on my tips and swiped Sally Hansen Cha-Ching! across all my nails and called it a night.

I wonder how many fancy red manis I'll see from my Twinsies...

Suit and Tie Mani

Ever since I was a teen, I was obsessed with Justin Timberlake so it's probably no surprise that I'm super excited that he just released a new track and will be putting out a new album this year. To celebrate the occasion, I felt it necessary to do a suit and tie mani in honor of Justin's single Suit and Tie.

I used WnW Ebony Hates Chris and Sinful Colors Snow Me White. I also used another WnW blue/green to give off the green tint but it doesn't show up in pictures.

Adventures in Stamping: Light Stamp over Dark Base

Hello all, so for Christmas my boyfriend got me the Mash plates. I was so excited because I've been wanting stamping plates for the longest. Since I now have more plates to use, I decided to join Adventures in Stamping, the first challenge I am participating in is light stamp over a dark base.
I used Revlon Black Star as my base and Revlon Minted with MASH plate 50.

Twinsie Tuesday - Saran Wrap Mani

Hello everyone and welcome to another Twinsie Tuesday, this week's theme is a saran wrap mani. I've always to try this but never had plastic wrap in the house and regular shopping bags did not do the trick for me. So here's my attempt with saran wrap.
I layered Sally Hansen Pop of Pink over a previous manicure that I will be blogging tomorrow. I've heard it's best to let the base color be completely dry and given the way I was feeling I did not have the energy to wait (nor could I keep my eyes open). Regardless, I like this effect and really spices up an old manicure.

Painting in the New Year Challenge: Confetti

Today's the last day of this challenge and today's theme is confetti. I'm not really feeling my confetti manicure but that's okay. My base color is 3 coats of Revlon Powder Puff and then I used various polishes to do the "confetti" and streamers.

Painting in the New Year Challenge: Drinks

I had something else in mind for today's theme but I changed it at the last minute after watching this video. I'll revisit some of these "fancy" drinks for manicures this summer.
So my drinks are: a cosmopolitan (WnW Pom Pom Kelly), tequila sunrise (WnW Straight A Jesse and The Wonder Yellows), pina colada (WnW Pin Em Slater) and champagne (365 DOC Gimme Some Bubbly).
