NOTD and "FOTN"

This was my actual NOTD for Tuesday. I had to work and had plans to attend this thing at school so I didn't want anything too crazy on my nails. This is the combo, I posted earlier this month over a coat of Sinful Colors Inkwell.

On Sunday night, I played around in my makeup to create a "dead" look. I wasn't sure if I wanted to post it or not but got encouragement from my Twinsies to go ahead. It was a fun look, but I didn't wear it out and don't ever plan to do so. I just wanted to test out my "skills". My base was a foundation that is too light for me. Then I just applied some green and grey shadows all over my face.

Pink Wednesday: Halloween Style

I wanted to have pink nails for the last Wednesday of October, but this year Halloween falls on Wednesday. What to do?! I attempted another Jack Skellington over pink and then my ring finger has a coat of China Glaze Glitter Goblin over SH Pop of Pink.

Twinsie Tuesday: Halloween Nails

I grew up not celebrating Halloween. I still don't technically celebrate Halloween but I like doing nail art and trying out a look or two with makeup. I've done a few Halloween manis already but wasn't sure what else to do. Some more Halloween skittles are the way to go for me.

On my index finger, I attempted Jack Skellington, a candy corn on my middle finger, a vampire that sparkles on my ring finger and bats on a orange & purple gradient. I used CutePolish's tutorial for the bats.

What's your favorite candy?
Looking forward to seeing everyone's Halloween Manicures :)

Pumpkin Nails

I used this tutorial by EasyNailArt1 on YouTube to do these pumpkin nails. Last year I tried to do one pumpkin and failed horribly. This was actually pretty simple. I started with  just one coat for my base color of WnW 9.0.2.1.Orange. Then I did ovals on my finger tips using Sally Hansen Sun Kissed. When that dried I used a thin paint brush and Sally Hansen Pumpkin Spice to do the stripes. The leaves were done with WnW Nerd Alert: Screech.
I even managed to do ONE pumpkin on my non-dominant hand.
I didn't realize the pictures weren't very clear until today. Luckily I still had my pumpkins on my nails so I was able to snap a new clearer picture. Unfortunately , I had a break on my index nail.

52 Week Challenge - Week 44 - Halloween Nails

One of my Twinsies, Nory did this awesome mani of Frankenstein and his friends and I just had to recreate it. My white is Sinful Colors Snow Me White, my black is WnW Black Creme and the green is WnW Nerd Alert: Screech.
It was my first time trying to do everyone but Frankenstein. I have another idea for the vampire but I might just save it for next year.

Frankenweenie Nails

My nails are inspired by Tim Burton's Frankenweenie. I thought it would be easy and I think it resembles Sparky but I don't think anyone could guess on their own who is on my nails.

I used OPI Skull & Glossbones for my base color and then WnW Black Creme for the stitches and details on my ring finger.

Pink Wednesday - China Glaze United

So technically, this was my Pink Wednesday but I originally wore this over a green polish because I didn't have the energy to remove my mani from the day before. However, since I painted my nails tonight with the same polish, I'm putting these pictures up now (5 minutes before Wednesday is over EST time).

It's so pretty!

Twinsie Tuesday: Polish from first swap

This week's Twinsie Tuesday has digging into our memories to recall a polish from our first swap. For me, it wasn't too difficult since I haven't done many swaps. My first polish swap was done with my twitter friend Mallory at the beginning of this year.

Mallory lives in Hawaii and didn't have access to Sinful Colors Cinderella so I offered to send it and a few other Sinfuls to her. She sent me some Island Girl polishes, which can only be found in Hawaii or Vegas. I've already featured these already but here's a look at the pink one since pink promotes Breast Cancer Awareness. (and I love pink!) This is Island Color, it has metallic pink and silver mini glitters and slightly larger magenta glitters. I normally wear it as an accent but I went all out with a full mani.
2 coats, still some bare spots

3 coats
Brand: Island Girl
Color Name/Number: Island Color (1141)
Finish: glitter
Number of Coats: 3
Top Coat: no

3 coats

Thank you again Mallory for my Island Girl polishes!
Be sure to check out all the Twinsies to see their first polish they received from a swap!

Layering: Ulta Fashionably Late and Glamoflage

Last week when Tara posted her swatches of Dollish Polish Vampires Coven, I was in awe. Sadly, it is all sold out so even if I could make a purchase, I couldn't get my hands on this beauty.

But by layering Ulta Fashionably Late and Glamoflage, I've got a combination that will ease my mind. Pardon the rough pictures, this was just a test. I will be doing a full manicure of this combo very soon and hopefully the pictures will be better.

52 Week Challenge - Week 43 - Spiderweb Mani

Wow, I can't believe there is only 9 weeks left of this challenge and this year. Let's get to the challenge, spiderweb. Now I'm your typical girly girl who doesn't like spiders and absolutely hates walking into a spiderweb. *shudders at the thought* But a spiderweb on the nails, I think I can handle that. As long as it is made of polish ;)

I started out with Sinful Colors Inkwell and WnW Break the Ice. Inkwell looks black but is in fact a DEEP blackened purple. I think the name is quite appropriate because it does remind me of ink. Break the Ice is an off-white sheer polish packed with shimmer.
I then used some nail art polishes to make the spiderwebs using Cutepolish's tutorial. For my first try, I'm happy with the results. The white webs turned out the best I think.

Then for my NOTD I wore one coat of China Glaze Immortal with some Kiss nail art stickers of a spider and a web. I only wore one coat because I was in a hurry to get to bed last night since I had to be up at 6:30 a.m.

China Glaze Glitter Goblin over WnW Buffy the Violet Slayer

I finally got the chance to get a few polishes from this year's Halloween collection from China Glaze. My first choice was Glitter Goblin and I knew the first color I wanted to pair it with was a purple.

Jelly Sandwich: Spoiled Trust Fund Baby

I've been searching for Spoiled Trust Fund Baby for the longest. Finally I came across it in a CVS that I don't normally visit. I knew I wanted to do a jelly sandwich so my first combo was Sinful Colors Outrages with 1 coat of Trust Fund Baby topped with two coats of WnW Sugar Sugar. I wasn't thrilled with this combo but left it on anyways.
When I came home from work, I took off the polish. There was a little glitter left behind but since I wanted another jelly sandwich I didn't mind. So I added 2 coats of WnW Hush Hush plus a coat of Trust Fund Baby followed by another coat of Hush Hush. I liked this combo much better!

Triple Layering Part 2

After this weeks Twinsie Tuesday post, I still wanted to experiment with triple layering. This was the combo I originally had in mind, but since Cordia was using random polishes for hers, I decided to nix this combo for that post. For this triple layer experiment, I used China Glaze Spontaneous, Sinful Colors Purple Diamond and Sally Hansen Gem Crush Big Money as my accent.

Then the following day, I added Wet n Wild Hannah Pinktana over all nails.

Twinsie Tuesday : Triple Layer Experiment

Hello lovely readers! Welcome to another Twinsie Tuesday!! Today's theme is triple layer experiment. I wasn't sure what we had to do exactly but I knew we couldn't do another jelly sandwich. I had it all figured out and then after some discussion, I realized it's supposed to include 3 random polishes. Since I would put too much thought into picking out, even if I was trying to be random. I asked my boyfriend to pick out three polishes from my collection. Here's what he chose:
Color Club Starry Temptress Topcoat, Sally Hansen HD Laser and Milani Gold.

blurred to try to the 3rd polish
So that's my triple layer experiment, I can't wait to see what my Twinsies come up with.
