52 week challenge - week 40 - animal print

Wow! Week 40 of the 52 week challenge! The year is just about over. This week's theme is animal print. I was hoping to have a plate with a giraffe print by now. Unfortunately, things always come up when I think about ordering.  I used this tutorial to attempt giraffe print on my own. Now although my color scheme is wrong (How do I not own a good brown?) I'm pretty satisfied with the general outcome of this design.

August/September Collective Haul

August was a slow month for me, I put myself on a "no-buy" but I caved and purchased Starry Temptress collection. Loro bought me Essie Smooth Sailing from Marshall's and I caved again and bought Sinful Colors Supernova.

As soon as September rolled in, I was ready to go crazy and go on a shopping frenzy but it wasn't in the stars for me. Even still, I managed to add quite a few polishes to my collection. My first purchase of the month was China Glaze I'm not Lion.

At the beginning of the month, Sinful Colors were on sale at Walgreen's for $.99. I snagged four of them: Hot, Hot Heat, Moss Have, Precious Metals and Gone Platinum. Around this time I also picked up Revlon Sparkle Aplenty from Walgreen's.

Then I won Marissa's giveaway and she sent me Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black and Essie Mint Mojito (mini). Thanks Marissa!

I used my CVS rewards and got Spoiled Checkin into Rehab for $.11. I think that is now my official good deal polish :)

Cordia surprised me with Dare to Wear Chi-Chi and later on hunted down Essence Grey-t to be here for me. Thanks Cordia!

Loro gave me some spending money and I got WnW Blue Moon, Sinful Colors Mesmerize and Inkwell. Then at Walgreen's the WnW megalast were $1.49 each, I picked up Deadly Dose, Poison Ivy, Root of All Evil and Toxic Apple.

As I posted earlier this week, Jenna sent me a package as well but I won't reveal what else I got from her until next week.

I must say, I had a pretty good month polish-wise. In October, I hope to get the Bundle Monster plates and some of the China Glaze polishes that are on my wish list. I got a few ideas in my head for some Halloween themed manicures (and fun makeup looks). The next two days, I plan to have double posts up. Other than that, I don't know what my posting schedule will be like (with the exception of 52 week challenge and Twinsie Tuesday) because October will be pretty busy for me due to my full work schedule. If anything, there will be a few Saturday Spam posts.

What were your favorite polish purchases this month?

Nail Mail and NOTD "boy-girl order"

Yesterday I received some nail mail from Jenna! I'm only showing half of what I got because the others will be revealed in an upcoming post.  ;) Thank you so much Jenna! I really like all of them!
Last night I used two of them. That's why I love accent nails, when I don't know which color to choose I just use two polishes! :) No matter what Sasha from Bunheads thinks.

So I decided to use two of my favorite colors pink and (baby) blue. I dubbed this manicure "boy-girl order" because it reminds me of elementary school. When our class was too talkative our teacher would make us walk and sit in boy-girl order. I distinctively remember one year boys out numbering the girls, so the teacher made us sit boy-boy-girl at lunch. I don't think us girls were too fond of it at that age.

The unmarked blue is from Bootie Babe. After checking out the site, I think it's called "Coolio Azulio". I look forward to wearing this under Sinful Colors Cinderella.
The pink is WnW Candy-licious. What a gorgeous pink it is!
Then I pulled out my Revlon Whimsical. It pairs perfectly with my "boy-girl order" manicure.
I forgot to use a top coat last night so I awoke to horrible sheet marks. I topped it off with Dare to Wear Chi Chi to disguise the sheet marks. (Thanks again Cordia!)

Sinful Colors Mesmerize with WnW Blue Moon

I remember commenting on one of Amanda's posts saying I didn't have enough blurples in my life. Well, I recently added one and I must say, I think Amanda will love it! Today I have Sinful Colors Mesmerize from the Muse collection. Had I known, I was going to be so mesmerized by this color I wouldn't have done accent nails. I did my accent nails first, which I usually don't do.

So Mesmerize is a deep vampy purple leaning blue creme. Application was fantastic and there was minimal clean up. Had I been more careful, I could of got away with only one coat. Shown is two coats without top coat. I will definitely be wearing this alone very soon.
Mesmerize on thumb, index and pinky
Brand: Sinful Colors
Collection: Muse
Color Name/Number: Mesmerize/1128
Finish: creme
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: no
Now like I mentioned earlier, I did my accent nails first. WnW Blue Moon caught my eye the other day at CVS because the sun was shining on it giving off a teal sheen in a gorgeous dark blue base. I instantly grabbed it because it's only .99 and I don't regret it. Of course, of the two in this post, I like Mesmerize better.
Brand: Wet n Wild
Collection: Wild Shine
Color Name/Number:  Blue Moon/466
Finish: shimmer
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: no

Here's the Sinful Muse display. If I see a full display again, I'm thinking about getting the two greys in the middle. I don't remember which grey is which but there's Smokin and Jungle Trail. I wanted the light green, In the Mist but it seems to be too close too Leap Flog only a tad lighter.  The black one is Inkwell and the last two are Last Chance and Rain Storm.

Essence Grey-t to be here (Pink Wednesday)

Thanks to the lovely Cordia for hunting down this polish for me! I'm happy to own my first Essence color & go polish which is Grey-t to be here. This lovely grey has pink to gold shimmer that is only slightly visible on the nail. Even still, it's probably my favorite grey at the moment.
Brand: Essence
Collection: Colour & Go
Color Name/Number: Grey-t to be here/142
Finish: creme with shimmer
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: yes

Then because I was loving this color so much, I didn't want to take it off to paint my nails for Pink Wednesday. SO I added Sinful Colors Pinky Glitter. It gives off a nice delicate look but it wasn't enough for Pink Wednesday...
So I added WnW Sparked! All this time and I'm finally experimenting with layering glitters. I must say, I was inspired by Maribeth. One of these days, I'm going to copy this manicure.

Twinsie Tuesday: Polish same color of your car

I was stoked for this week's Twinsie Tuesday theme, a polish the same color of our car! At first, I was like aww, my car is just black but upon closer look there were tiny metallic glitters. Of course, Boyfriend did not want to admit that our (boy) car has glitters but I beg to differ.  I had the perfect polish to match. Enter Sinful Colors Secret Admirer, just look - it's a perfect match!

We have a 92 Toyota Corolla, we recently got him earlier this year when the engine in our old car basically blew up. He's good on gas and easy to park. But because our car is a tad on the old side, he's not as shiny as he was once before. Therefore I opted to use Hard Candy Matte-ly in Love for accent nails.
I'm excited to see everyone's manicures to see the color of their cars!

Layering: Color Club Glitter Envy

Well this is the last of my Starry Temptress (mini) Collection until I hunt down the others ;) Today I have Glitter Envy. I'm not one to stick to a certain trend per season but I felt a little odd with these glittery neon green nails last night. Perhaps it was because I was watch the Emmy's Red Carpet and all the celbs were wearing nudes and some even had on glitter tips.

Anyways I decided to spice up Glitter Envy but first let's take a look at Glitter Envy on her own.
This was two coats of glitter envy and notice there is still a VNL. VNLs are not always a deal breaker for me but I expected this to be a little more opaque. Goes on nicely and lies smooth, not much to say.
Here's where things get interesting. I sponged on Sinful Colors Savage then added another layer of Glitter Envy. Topped with WnW Party of Five Glitters then added Hardy Candy Matte-ly in Love. I love this!

52 Week Challenge - Week 39 - Dry Marble Nails

Marble nails are not my thing. Don't get me wrong, I love how they look on other people...just not on me. I think that's just because I don't like the outcome of any marble manicure I have tried. Although, I've only tried two, my water marble and today's dry marble. I would have to say that my dry marble was a tad bit more successful considering I kind of winged it. Do they actually look like marble nails or does it give off a splatter or blob vibe?

Saturday Spam - 2

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted since Tuesday. I apologize for that but I've sort of been out of it this week. Here's what I've been wearing on my nails this week.
On Monday, I wore Sinful Colors Precious Metal with Confetti Sprinkles on Top over as my accent. I believe this was 2 coats of Precious Metal. I would prefer to layer this over a dark color.

Although I posted a Rainbow Mani for Twinsie Tuesday, I actually wore Wet n Wild Break the Ice with a unamed Claire's glitter as my accent. I then layered Dare to Wear Chi Chi over. My lovely Twinsie, Cordia, surprised me with nail mail on Monday and I couldn't wait to wear my namesake polish
.
On Wednesday, I layered Chi Chi over OPI Pink Friday. Chi Chi is such a delicate sparkle it can be layered over any color to give it a different look. I think I'll be getting plenty of use out of it. :)

I didn't paint my nails til late at night on Thursday but remembered I wanted to enter Jenna's IC Awareness contest so I did a teal mani with an accent of a "daisy". I know, sad attempt at a daisy. I sponged on a bunch of teals for a different look. If anyone is interested in entering Jenna's contest be sure to check out the link. The contest is over tomorrow night at 11:59pm (EST).

On Friday, I wore Sinful Colors Lavender with WnW Blue wants to be a Millionaire. I actually remembered to use my light box that day.

Twinsie Tuesday - Rainbow nails

Hello friends,
It's time for another edition of Twinsie Tuesday! Today's theme is Rainbow nails! Rainbows have always been fun for me whether it's with crayons, markers, play-doh or nail polish. I remember seeing another blogger do rainbow nails like this and I wanted to try it. Sad thing but I don't remember who. (If you think it was you or someone you know, please let me know and I'll make the proper links.)

I used WnW French White Creme as my base color. Then I used Sinful Colors GoGo Girl, Citrine, Sally Hansen Sunny Side, Sinful Colors Envy, WnW Saved by the Blue and Buffy the Violet Slayer.

I can't wait to see all the other fun rainbow manicures!

52 Week Challenge - Week 38 - Metallic or Magnetic nails

This week's theme came in at perfect timing considering so many companies are coming out with various metallic polishes. However, I chose to do magnetic polish since I've been holding on to it since March just for this post. This is a Nabi polish, it doesn't have a specific name but a number 47-300. It's a gorgeous teal but the magnet doesn't work that well for me. It's opaque in two coats.
Brand: Nabi
Collection: Magnetic
Color Name/Number: 47-300
Finish: magnetic
Number of Coats: 2

Essie Mojito Madness with China Glaze Ray-diant

Today I have the 2nd polish I won from Marissa's giveaway at Polish Obsession. This color was on my wishlist after seeing it on my friend Tammi and several other nail bloggers. This beautiful color is Mojito Madness, he's from the Summer 2012 Bikini so Teeny display. This green is perfect being that it is not too minty and not too bright. Best part, Mojito applies SO smoothly and he's super shiny. I dare say it's my FAVORITE green.
Brand: Essie
Collection: Bikini So Teeny
Color Name/Number: Mojito Madness
Finish: Creme
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: none needed

For sake of fun and using my glitters, I paired this with China Glaze Ray-diant but this polish is pretty enough that it doesn't need glitter.

Pink Wednesday - Sinful Colors Supernova (and current NOTD)

Ah, Wednesday...normally I would be happy because I'd be halfway through my work week but I've got a new schedule and I'm still adjusting. Anyways today I have a pink that's not a typical pink I would wear. This is Sinful Colors Supernova from the Hot Flash Metallics display. Supernova is a pale rose gold and I don't recall having anything else like it in my collection. I read that it possibly compares to Orly Rage but looking at All Lacquered up's swatches, I would say it's different.

I only used two coats and didn't have much problem with brush strokes which makes me very happy. I wore it for one day without top coat and had a few chips. Overall, I'm happy with this polish especially since I got it on sale for 99 cents.
Brand: Sinful Colors
Collection: Hot Flash Metallics
Color Name/Number: Supernova
Finish: foil
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: no

Then today I am wearing Essie Pink Diamond with Zoya Kiki sponged on with OPI Nothin Mousie bout it over. On my accent nail is China Glaze Full Spectrum. I orginally wanted to wear Pink Diamond on its own with Nothin Mousie but it didn't work because I couldn't see the flecks. Even with Kiki the flecks are nearly invisible.
