Twinsie Tuesday - Regional Polish

Hello Polishettes! It's Twinsie Tuesday again! This week's theme is regional polish. I must say I was somewhat disappointed in my region because I could not find any polish that was made in the Midwest or the "Old Northwest". If there are polishes that were made in the Midwest, my state just isn't savvy enough to have them. Shame.

However, I do have a polish that seems to only be found in beauty supply stores. I've never seen this brand in a drugstore or grocery store. As a matter fact, this brand was only in one beauty store that I have been to in my area. This is Ruby Kisses Baby Blue. I bought this mostly because of the name. I associate baby blue with my teen years for the reasons that my boyfriend would tease me about. But that's another story. ;)

Although this isn't technically a shade of baby blue but a mix of cerulean and scattered fine glitters in a clear base, it's still pretty to look at. I already see myself layering this over white and doing gradients. This is 3 coats with the 3rd coat being heavily applied at the tips.

I can't wait to see what regional polishes my Twinsies post! I know some of them have great brands in their region.

Saved by the Nail Collection

"I'm so excited...I'm so excited!!" If this scene happened between Zack and me, it would be polish and not pills. And I wouldn't be scared. LOL!

Last Thursday night before bed, I logged on to Facebook and my twinsie Tara let me know that I won Of Life and Lacquer's giveaway. I froze. Then checked my email and sure enough there was an email from Cynthia saying I won. If everyone hadn't been sleeping I would've screamed at the top of my lungs. I was all smiles!! It was the perfect news to get at the end of my birthday.

Monday when I got home from work a package was waiting on the table for me. I opened up my package and stared at each polish lovingly.

From left to right: Pom Pom Kelly, Straight A Jesse, Pin' em Slater, Nerd Alert: Screech, Chick Magnet Zack, and Fashionista Lisa.

I just couldn't wait to test out a few of these. I decided to go with my favorite Saved by the Bell power couple, Zack and Kelly.
 Brand: Wet n Wild
Collection: Saved by the Nail
Color Name/Number: Chick Magnet Zack
Finish: neon w/shimmer
Number of Coats: 2
Top Coat: in last picture

Zack has a matte neon finish but with shimmer. Kelly is a neon hot pink with a nice matte feel to her. I'm not in the mood for matte polishes today so I topped both with NYC top coat.

Thank you so much Cynthia for hosting this giveaway and ending my search for these polishes!

Review: Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy - Influenster

In my Influenster box I was lucky enough to receive the Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Shampoo and Conditioner. I was a little nervous trying out a new product because my hair is so finicky. But I loved this shampoo and conditioner. It left my hair feeling soft and not weighed down or brittle. That was my biggest worry. I thought I would have to use one of my other conditioners afterwards but this was good on its own. I'm interested in seeing if the Clear line has a set specific for curly or colored hair, as that's what I typically look for when buying shampoo and conditioner. Even if there isn't I'll be sure to purchase the Total Care set again.

Enough of my own review, here's what Influenster had to say: "Did you know 99% of hair's natural strength comes from the scalp? Introducing Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy, a new line of shampoos and conditioners that nourish the scalp and create the right foundation for strong, beautiful hair from root to tip. Wash your way to stronger hair in just 7 days."

Now because I have curly, frizzy hair I don't wash my hair every day. I wash and co-wash throughout the week. But I could definitely see about working the Clear shampoo and conditioner into my hair routine.

Sally Hansen Sun Kissed and Sinful Colors Pull over

Well if I had to give this mani a creative name, I'd call it "Traffic cone" or maybe not. This is a nice colorful manicure for summer using a pretty vibrant orange and a nice yellow. The orange is Sally Hansen Sun Kissed (thanks boyfriend!) it has a somewhat crelly finish and applied nicely. The yellow crelly is Sinful Colors Pull Over and I fell for that when I saw Amanda's post . Pull Over isn't a brand new color but it can possibly be found in the Study in Style display. I went to 3 different Walgreen's hunting for mine.

I then decided to get "creative" and did orange tips on my accent nails using Sun Kissed. Then I topped it with Kleancolor Chunky Holo Candy. My right hand is opposite of my left. I'm really liking this style.

100 Follower Giveaway

I'm so excited to be hosting my very first giveaway in honor of reaching 100 followers! (Well technically 102 as I write this.) I never thought I would reach this milestone. I'm ecstatic!!

I've had this blog since 2009 and it started off really slow. I wasn't sure what route I really wanted to take. Last Summer I stumbled upon some nail blogs and was fascinated. I slowly started to post my own nail pics here and there. Over the past year, I really got into blogging and I've enjoyed it so much. Thank you everyone for your support. Now on to the prizes!

I will be giving away Sinful Colors Georgio, Nirvana (matte), WnW Fergie Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night and WnW Megalast Salsa Lessons. This giveaway is open to US and Canada. Just enter the giveaway below. Good luck!!!

52 week Challenge - week 31 - crackle mani

This week our theme is to do a crackle manicure. Nothing new for me. I like how crackles look but I'm somewhat over them I guess. I use to want ALL the colors I could get my hands on but now I'm good with the few I have. I used Cherimoya Trinity over Sally Hansen Purple Potion and Sinful Colors Savage. I'm digging the matte over a shiny polish and the matte polish.

9 year old does my makeup

My boyfriend's 9 year old niece is visiting. Well technically she's not 9 yet but that's another story. I remember she loved playing in makeup. She's been keeping herself entertained by watching makeup tutorials on YouTube. Earlier this week, she was watching me to my makeup before work and I told her this weekend I would let her do my makeup if she's interested. Of course, she was excited about that. So first thing this morning, she came in our room and said "Titi can I do your makeup now?" I told her to wash her hands and then let her loose in my makeup drawers. This is the look she came up with. I think she did a great job and my boyfriend thought so to. He told her he was expecting the makeup to be everywhere else but my eyes. LOL.

Sinful Colors Innocent

Back around St. Patrick's day I tried to use all my greens but I never got around to posting them all. I found these pictures left on my camera. Luckily I took notes of these swatches, I should do that more often. This is Sinful Colors Innocent and it is a bright lime-yellow green creme. It is somewhat similar to OPI Did it on Em, OPI Fiercely Fiona and OPI Who the Shrek are You? My bottle was on the thick side but manageable. I used 2 coats over a white polish.

WnW Saved by the Bell Collection and giveaway at Of Life and Lacquer

Of Life and Laquer is having giveaway of a HTF collection from Wet n Wild. She has some amazing swatches of all the polishes and as soon as I saw them I was determined to find them. Just looking at her swatches makes me picture the characters. The colors and names were nicely matched.

Unfortunately just like the WnW LE collection last fall, I cannot locate these in my area. But that doesn't mean I will stop looking for them. Until I find them, I'll be drooling over her swatches. Be sure to enter her giveaway!

I was excited that we used to watch some of the same shows. Did anyone else use to watch Saved by the Bell, California Dreams or Small Wonder? Have you spotted this collection in your area?

Birthday Manicure

I've seen several bloggers and YouTubers post cupcake manis. I've been waiting for my birthday to try it out. There are several cupcake nail tutorials on YouTube but I used AditeeArt as my guide for my manicure. I only did two cupcakes (well four counting my right hand) for sake of time. I used OPI If you Moust you Moust, Claire's Candy Shop, Sinful Colors Lavender and a new franken I made that I'm calling Frosting.
This manicure was so fun to do, I think I'll try it again. My boyfriend went off to the store with his niece and nephew to pick me something up to open at midnight. This is what he bought back. At first he handed me the Revlon Duo and I was excited with that. Then he came back with all these Sally Hansens. I was shocked! Two of them have to go back because I already have them but they picked out some great colors!

Pink Wednesday - China Glaze Strawberry Fields

This Wednesday I have China Glaze Strawberry Fields to share. This polish was a birthday gift from the lovely Anna at Going to the Showing. This polish is perfect for summer but I'm sure I'll bring it out when ever I want to stare at that beautiful gold shimmer in the pink glass-fleck/jelly base. On my accent nail, I layered on China Glaze Techno (Thank you Cordia!). I topped everything with NYC topcoat.

And guess what!?! I'm so excited because I reached 100 followers!!! My first giveaway will be coming soon, I got a few items set aside but I need to gather some more. Thank you all so much for reading and commenting!!

Twinsie Tuesday - Best Deal Polish

This was a Tuesday I've been anxiously awaiting because this week's theme is best deal polish not received from a swap, gift, or giveaway! I had this polish waiting since June for me to use it. My best deal polish is OPI Pros & Bronze. I scooped this polish up for $1 when I bought my OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse collection. There are no cons to this polish. It has a good formula, dries pretty fast and is not gritty. And the color...oh my goodness, it's gorgeous! A coppery bronze with hints of green and pink, this polish deserves a medal.
Brand: OPI
Line: Serena Williams Glam Slam
Color Name/Number: Pros & Bronze
Finish: foil/duochrome
Number of Coats: 3
Top Coat: not in pics

And I could not leave out this other great deal I got last October. I found Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure in the clearance bin for $1! When I got this, I didn't know about the "hype" of this polish. So I was happy to discover, I snagged it for a buck and I saved that sticker to remind me.

This week we are welcoming a new Twinsie to the mix, Maribeth from Obsessive Cosmetic Hoarders Unite. Welcome Maribeth, glad to have you!!! I can't wait to see the other twinsies great deals!

Sinful Colors Lavender

When Sinfuls went on sale for $.99 yesterday, I couldn't resist hunting down Lavender and Pull Over. Now if I'm not able to get back to Walgreens before the sale is over, least I got those two. Today I am sharing Lavender.

Now albeit a pretty shade of purple, I expected something lighter. But since this is aimed towards the Fall season, it's understandable why it's a deeper dustier purple. Lavender is a dusty blue-based purple creme. It applied smoothly and only needed two coats. I wanted to include a picture of Lavender on it's own but I got carried away with the chance to use Color Club Starry Temptress Topcoat (Thanks Amanda!) on my accent nails. Never fear, I'm sure I'll be pulling this out when September rolls around.
