52 Week Challenge - Week 18 - Cartoon Mani

I was so unsure of what cartoon to do for this week's challenge because I know my art skills are lacking. I was very close to doing Angelica from Rugrats but then my boyfriend suggested Doug. I thought that would be a little easier so I went with that. I like how it turned out.

For those that have never watched Doug, here's what each nail represents. My thumb represents Patty Mayonaise (Sally Hansen Blue Me Away! and Sinful Colors Scandal). My index finger is Doug's face (Revlon Antique Linen and Wet n Wild Ebony Hates Chris), while the middle finger is his vest and white shirt (Sinful Colors Snow me White and Zoya Yara). My ring finger is Doug's shoe (Revlon Mon Cherry, EHC and SMW) and my pinky represents Skeeter (Sinful Colors Summer Peach and Firefly). I used LA Colors Base and Top Coat as a base for all my nails. Here's what's on each finger:

I look forward to checking out the other cartoon manis, be sure to check them out too!

ASBMF #3 - Glitter Sammy

Here's my next post for ASBMF: a glitter sammy! I wish I had more jelly polishes (without having to franken) but I don't. I do have Revlon Royal and it is a gorgeous blue jelly. I started my mani with 1 coat of Island Girl Aloha Surf  (thanks Mallory!) over my old NOTD. Then I added only 1 coat of Royal. I felt that I couldn't see the glitters very well beneath so I added another coat of Aloha Surf to all but two fingers. And there you have it, my glitter sammy.

ASBMF - Ladybugs

Hello everyone here is another post for the spring challenge created by Polished Prisms. Today I have ladybugs! I'm one of those girls that never liked any type of bug. But I gotta admit, ladybugs on nails look really cute.
For this manicure, I used Revlon Mon Cherry, Ulta Fashionably Late (thanks Dolly!), WnW Black Creme and a random white (I'm sorry I don't remember which white I used). On my accent fingers, I used one coat of Black Creme, then topped it with 2 coats of Fashionably Late.

NOTD: OPI In the Spot-Light Pink (and Chatter)

So after that bright skittle mani was posted yesterday. I decided to only wear 1 bright color at a time. I let Toro pick out a color of the 5 that was used in that mani, and he chose Summer Peach. So I painted my nails with that and woah was it bright! (sorry no picture) My boyfriend said I could direct planes with my nails.Well of course I needed something a little less in your face after all that brightness.

I chose OPI In the Spot-Light Pink from the Femme De Cirque softshades collection. I bought the mini set of 4 at TJ Maxx on Sunday for $7.99. (It's nice to expand my OPI collection, even if they are just minis.) Although it doesn't look like it, I used 2 coats of ItSLP. I would have piled on 2 more coats if I wasn't planning to head to bed soon. I then topped ItSLP with 1 coat of Essie As gold as it gets. It's not bam in your face but it's noticeable to me.

Now for some chatter because I feel like having some chitchat.

I'm sad to say but I have misplaced a beloved discontinued polish, Maybelline Blue Water. It was last used for my post on April 10. All that is left of Blue Water is the gold cap that was over the black cap (which shocked me to be honest). I've looked everywhere. I'm thinking it got knocked off my desk right into my trash can (GASP!). I hope it turns up.

In other news, I have several pictures ready to be watermarked and resized so I can upload them. I need to get those up before they start to pile up. One set of pictures is for the Spring Challenge I decided to participate in. I think I may need to start scheduling posts just in case I can't get to the computer.

Speaking of challenges, there are a few others that I am interested in doing soon. One of which being the Black & White challenge in honor of my pup, Toro. We've had him for a month today! I also want to do Plasma Plays in 21 ways. Both of these, I will be going at my own pace. Of course, I'll continue to participate in 52 week challenge and Twinsie Tuesday. Those are so much fun!

One more thing, who is excited about OPI Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection?? Even before seeing swatches from The PolishAholic, I knew I had to have them. I'm also looking forward to OPI The amazing Spiderman collection but only for 2 polishes, Just Spotted the Lizard and Number One Nemesis. What upcoming collections are you excited for?

Twinsie Tuesday - Skittle Manicure

Hello bonitas! Today I am back with another Twinsie Tuesday post, this week's theme is Skittles! I personally love skittle manicures because when I cannot decide what polish to wear, I choose to do skittles. Plus it's a surefire way to be sure I'm getting proper use out of my polish. ;)

For this skittle mani, I decided to go with neon colors because it's these are from the newest display and while the colors are not new releases they are new to me because I have not been interested in neons before. Now I know to grab them while I can, especially when Sinfuls are on sale for $.99 this week! I had a difficult time capturing the true color because they looked like plain colors on camera.

this was an attempt to capture the true color of the neons, sadly it turned out super blurry

Here's the colors I used for this manicure:
Thumb: Neon Melon (56)
Index: Summer Peach (53)
Middle: Pink (871)
Ring: Daredevil (1104)
Pinky: Dream On (113)

Do you like wearing skittle manicures or do you think they are "childish"? I agree they are not always appropriate for some work environments but if you could would you wear a skittle manicure?

52 Week Challenge - Week 17 - Earth Day Manicure

I honestly did not know what I wanted to do for my Earth Day manicure. 3 factors stood against me when I tried to come up with a creative manicure. I had a runny, stuffy nose. I was tired from waking up early to work with said runny stuffy nose. Not to mention I was a tad crunchy because my Saturday night plans did not go as expected. I decided to use Revlon Royal as a base color and wrote out Earth with China Glaze Holly-Day.  Then I went over Holly-Day with Sinful Colors Show me the Way. Not exactly the most creative but in a way it represents the ocean and land, right?

I've seen a few of the other Earth Day manis and they look great. Be sure to check them out too!

Disney Inspired - Sleeping Beauty

Anyone that knows me, knows I LOVE Disney. For a long time, I wanted to incorporate my love of Disney with my makeup and nail looks but out of fear that it won't look "good" I hindered myself from trying. Now that I've spread my wings and allowed myself to participate in various nail art challenges, why not do a personal challenge and do something Disney inspired.

My first Disney inspired nail art is Aurora from Sleeping Beauty. My index and middle fingers represent Aurora's dress and how Flora and Merryweather couldn't decide what color her dress should be. My ring finger represents Aurora's hair and crown and my pinky represents Aurora's alias "Briar Rose". On my thumb (not pictured) I did a spinning wheel but wasn't really impressed with how it turned out.
Here's what I used for this manicure.
Index: Revlon Sublime Strawberry, Sinful Colors Tutu and NYC Little Italy
Middle: Sally Hansen Blue me Away, NYC Cashmere Creme and Little Italy
Ring: (base color) Sinful Colors Firefly
(crown) Pure Ice Jaguar and China Glaze Champagne Bubbles
(and a franken to outline the crown)
Pinky: (Base colors) WnW Sparked and Essie As Gold as it gets
(rose) Spoiled I tripped on the Carpet, China Glaze Holly-day

Twinsie Tuesday: Tape Mani

(I am so upset. I had this post prepared last night. Something went wrong and it didn't post this morning. I feel like I let my twinsies down. I apologize for being late)

This week's theme was tape mani. These are not a favorite manicure of mine, but only when I do them. Something always goes wrong (my personal theme for today, it seems) and my lines aren't crisp and just looks blah. I do like the asymmetrical look over bare nails but this played out better in my head. The only thing I liked about this mani is the color I used, which is Sally Hansen Blue me Away! Be sure to check out the other tape mani of all the twinsies.

Twinsie Tuesday: Nude Polish

(this was last week's post, I don't know what happened that this reposted with the date of the 17th)
Hello lovely readers, I'm back with another edition of Twinsie Tuesday. This week's theme is nude polish. To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to this week's theme for the simple fact that nude makeup products never seem to work for me. I could've just used one of my neutral work appropriate colors but since that isn't my "nude" color, I opted to franken a nude polish.
I combined an old brown polish with lighter nude colors, the end result was what is shown in the pictures.

Since I enjoy looking at nude polishes on other blogger's hands, I can't wait to see what the other ladies of Twinsie Tuesday have to share. Be sure to check them out too!

52 Week Challenge - Week 16 - Dotticure

When I saw Dotticure on the list of challenges, I wondered why there would be Polka Dot and Dotticure. Aren't they both the same thing? Nevertheless, I wanted to do this "dotticure" different than my polka dot mani so I went for a clearish base with colors. My boyfriend told me this was the best design I've done so far, so that makes this my favorite mani.
For this dotticure, I used a base color of Sinful Colors Glass Pink. Then I used my dotting tool (an actual dotting tool this time, YAY!) and used OPI Pink Friday, China Glaze Tinsel and LA Colors Art Deco White for the dots. In the last two pictures I used NYC Grand Central Station for my top coat.

Be sure to check out the other bloggers who did a dotticure this week. If your name needs to be added to this list just send me an email to let me know.

Fish Egg Friday

At the last minute I decided to run to Michael's and participate in Fish Egg Friday (which I just read about today via some of the blogs listed below.

Here's the story: This manicure was originally done by Dashing Diva last year. Apparently a certain brand decided to email a few bloggers and tell them they cannot call their DIY manicures "caviar manicures" because they were in the process of trademarking it.

Last night it was decided that nail bloggers would band together and take a stand thus resulting in Fish Egg Friday.
