Halloween Mani 2011

I really don't know why I waited the whole month of October to finally do a Halloween inspired Mani. That left me not being able to decide what I wanted to do - so why not put them all together. Right?

The index finger is a purple and orange gradient topped with a black crackle. I really like how it looks and wish I would have did this one earlier. I know I will definitely be doing this next year. My frankie was my first attempt at it, I was so worried it was going to be a jacked up Frankie but it turned out pretty good. My thumb (not shown) also had a candy corn.

All nails but Frankie was topped with one coat of China Glaze Top Coat.
I think was the most polish I ever used in one mani.

What's on your nails for Halloween?

Pink Wednesday: Sprinkled Strawberry Yogurt

Pink Wednesday! Sprinkled Strawberry Yogurt (Layered Franken)

It feels like it's been forever since I last blogged. Today's Pink Wednesday consists of 2 frankens I created. One is a semi baby pink w/purple glitters then a "glitter bomb". I layered the two because I wanted to make good use of the "glitter bomb". It took many coats of the baby pink color to get the opacity I wanted without streak lines. Once I was satisfied with the opacity, I layered the "glitter bomb" then went back over with the baby pink then again with the "glitter bomb". Finally when I was completely satisfied I topped with a clear top coat.

Have you created any frankens? Do you have a better name than "glitter bomb"?

NOTD: Teal Nail Project

So today is October 16 and that means it is National Feral Cat Day. (to be honest, i didn't know anything about this until last night on twitter or tumblr.) Find out more about Teal Nail project and National Feral Cat Day

So there was no question of what color i should paint my nails today. The only problem was deciding what shade of teal I wanted to use. That turned into me wanting to do a whole post dedicated to the teals I own, so here it is. My teal mani and all the teal polishes I currently own.
I decided on WnW Teal of Fortune and SC Nail Junkie. On the accent nail I attempted to do a gradient with a cosmetic sponge. It appears more teal in person.

On the other hand, I decided to just use the rest of the teals and do an "ombre" affect. Starting from the pinky is CG Shower Together, SC Love Nails, Cherimoya Sanctuary over SC Mint Apple and CG For Audrey.

This random nail was SC Mint Apple before I used the Cherimoya crackle. I felt like this shade fits better in the green family. It was before clean up and please excuse the dry hands.

When I get the rest of my polish collection sent from my dad's I'll update if I have any other teals.

Do you own a lot of teal polish? Would you be interested in seeing more posts like this?

Sedona Lace 12 piece PINK brush set

I purchased these brushes in September of 2010 when they were on sale for $49.95. (Now you can purchase them for $59.95.) Since I've never owned any of the high end brands of brushes the only thing I have to compare these brushes to are Eco Tools, ELF, low end drugstore brand and your standard paint brushes. These were the first "official" make up brushes I owned and I was very excited to purchase them. Not to mention, they're pink! So that's a win-win!

The shipping process was extremely fast for me. I ordered them on the 15th and they were shipped out on the 16th. I'm pretty sure I received them the next day (since I was living in Florida at the time) but I don't remember because that was over a year ago.

Now on to the pics! (the descriptions for the brushes are quoted from the Sedona Lace website.)

772 eyeliner brush
This extra fine brush with natural bristles helps give a precise line when applying liner.
I use this brush to apply color to the inner corner and for a touch of color in any look.

561 Small angled brush
This stiff natural bristled brush is angled to help create the perfect eye brow when filling in.
This is an essential brush when applying gel or creme eyeliner.
I mostly use this brush to apply eyeshadow as a liner or set my eyeliner.

904 Pencil Brush
This brush is name of natural bristles and is perfect for smudging out eye liner
Great for applying color in the crease and outer corner of the eye.
This brush can easily create a gorgeous 'smokey eye' look.

954 Concealer Brush
This Rounded flat shaped, thin precision tip brush with synthetic bristles allows flawless application of cream or liquid concealers underneath the eye or in hard to reach areas, like the inner eye or lash-line.

305 Eye shading brush
This brush has a soft rounded top to helps apply loose eye shadows and pigments.
Ideal for packing on a lot of pigment and keeping an intense color.
Natural bristles.

407 medium angled shading brush
This angled shape, yet flat with natural bristles brush, is best used underneath the eyebrow and inner corners of the eyes. Also great use for blending shadows outwards.
I gotta say this is one of my favorite brushes just because of the number and because it is perfect for applying a highlight under the eyebrow. It keeps the highlight color right in place.

941 Large Shader Brush
This flat shaped brush is ideal for applying eye shadow primer and creme formulas.
Could also be used for concealers in precise areas.
Natural bristles.
When I travel I make sure to bring this brush because for me it doubles as a regular eyeshadow brush and good for applying shadow under the eyebrow.

863 Tapered blending brush
This brush has a rounded and tapered top and a perfect size for applying and blending an all over shadow. Packs color into the lip and also blends for a soft result.

727 Foundation Brush
The synthetic bristles on this brush are non-absorbing to help keep your foundation on your face and not on the brush! Tapered Oval head gently helps to blend the foundation into place.

850 Large Angled contour brush
This angled shaped brush works best when used for applying blushes.
Used to apply cheek contour, could also be used wet as a foundation brush.

813 Duo Fibre Brush
This brush is known to add the finish of an "airbrush look" when using liquid foundation, not the best brush for creme foundations. The great natural bristles of this brush help with the application of blush, also used as a highlight brush.
Since I don't wear foundation, I prefer using this brush for blush.

and last but not least...

376 Powder Brush
This sculpted brush head with natural bristles, allows for more precise placement.
Great rounded top for "all over" application of loose powder.

Somehow over the year, I had a small mishap with this brush and now have bristles sticking out on the side. I don't remember how it happened.

I had minimal shedding when I first washed the brushes but I don't experience shedding when using the brush on my face. Also, I wanted to add the Sedona Lace has great customer service. Upon receiving my brushes, my 727 had a glob of glue. I emailed them and they sent me another brush to replace it.

If you're interested, check out the brushes. They are out of stock at the moment, but the site says they are expected to be back in stock by the 31 of this month.

These brushes were purchased with my own money. I am not being paid or sponsored by Sedona Lace to do this post.

Have you tried any of the Sedona Lace brushes or any other products?

Pink Wednesday 7

This week I am wearing NYC Classic Coral Creme. However, this finish is anything but a creme, I would say it's more of a shimmer or glass flecked. Unless I've been wrong about the color coral all these years, this is obviously not a "coral". Nevertheless, it is a gorgeous pink and cost less than a dollar (before tax). I used 2 coats and no top coat.

Have a good pink Wednesday!!!
